SERVICES IN TECHNOLOGIESCOUTING

A scouting process consists of several steps and comprises a service package starting with the definition of the company's goals up to the development of contracts between the actors.

Specifically, the scouting process includes the following phases:

1. GOAL DEFINITION

In a first step, information provided by the client is collected. Boundary conditions and requirements for the technology to be searched for and the technology owner are specified. In addition, the state of the art is recorded. This includes research that has already been carried out by the client, which technology providers have already been contacted, etc.

2. TECHNOLOGY FIELD ANALYSIS

A technology field analysis is used to research technologies and identify the associated developers. Found technologies and technology owners (so-called targets) are also evaluated and contacted in order to inquire about the current status of the respective development. The results are then compared. The client remains anonymous for the targets up to this point.

3. EVALUATION

If the prospect of licensing is expected following the assessment, the scouting process can be continued. In the next step, the targets are addressed and the possibility or interest in cooperation is discussed. If there is interest on the part of the target, framework conditions are set out in a term sheet prior to the development of a contract.

4. SUPPORT

The last step of the service package includes support for target and client with licensing and contract negotiations.
